Hi all,
Here’s an update on yesterday’s Council for Exceptional Children’s 10th annual TENNIS round robin at Lakewood Ranch sponsored by Sam and Gail Gold.
Maybe due to the gorgeous weather, we had our largest ever group of tennis players….40 people playing on 10 courts. We raised $1,040.00 yesterday afternoon for our Sarasota and Manatee County students’ 2014 SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS.
We had lots of raffle winners and Oak Park School’s, Alice Mazzolini, was a lucky winner and player too!
Additionally we had a surprise treat from Sekou Bangoura, a 22 year old University of Florida and Manatee County graduate, who participated our CEC student exhibition 10 years ago as a 12 year old and currently is a professional tennis player touring all over the world, but was visiting his dad (also named Sekou Bangoura, Sr.) to practice. Sekou and his dad gave us a quick lesson and drill and talked to us about tennis in countries all over the world and how children line up and wait their turns just to get on a court and to have an opportunity to play. The Bangoura’s fielded a variety of questions from our round robin participants and additionally donated money and services for our CEC SUMMER CAMP Scholarships.
Please see a few of our attached photos from this very special day!
