Welcome!!!
Thank you for visiting the Council for Exceptional Children’s Sunset Chapter webpage. Here you will find information on upcoming events, pictures from some of our fundraising opportunities, and current legislative issues effecting Florida education.
The Council for Exceptional Children is an international community of professionals who are the voice and vision of special and gifted education. CEC's mission is to improve, through excellence and advocacy, the education and quality of life for children and youth with exceptionalities and to enhance engagement of their families.
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for students with special needs. All dues, donations, and fundraisers go directly back to serving our students through summer scholarships, teacher grants, professional development and legislative advocacy.
The Sunset chapter includes both Sarasota and Manatee Counties and is dedicated to sending special education students to summer camp, providing mini grants to teachers, offering professional development opportunities to educators, and lobbying for our students in Tallahassee.
We depend on our members and also the support of our communities to advance the field of special education and make positive changes that directly benefit the lives of our students.
We thank you for your continuing support.
Sincerely,
Christine Adler
